Electronic Cigarette – Smoke Without Fire

Asked recently to write about electronic cigarettes, I have to confess that I had never heard of such a thing. Some internet research later and I discovered that electronic cigarettes are very much a quickly growing concern. A Google search revealed there is no smoke without fire as almost six million results just for the phrase “electronic cigarette” were returned.

What is an electronic cigarette?

The electronic cigarette has been in existence for almost three years and is a clever device aimed at providing smokers with a healthier option. Apparently also useful in helping to reduce and indeed quit smoking altogether.

Now in a fourth generation, electronic cigarettes have become much more user friendly than earlier versions which perhaps were a little too large to encourage a mass market appeal. The “mini” is the most realistic e cigarette to date with its length of 100mm being the same as a conventional cigarette.

An electronic cigarette contains a taste of tobacco but none of the harmful substances found in normal cigarettes allowing smokers cravings to be satisfied without inhaling the many dangerous toxins. Is it all smoke and mirrors? Or can this item really be the saviour it wants to be?

A battery, an atomiser and a renewable nicotine chamber allows the smoker to hold and smoke the electronic cigarette just as they would any other cigarette, even creating a “smoke” like vapour and glow at the end as they draw. The nicotine chamber proves very useful as cartridges are available in different strengths, permitting the user to reduce the amount of nicotine they intake until if they wish, can quit completely.

Why E-Cigarettes Can’t Help You Quit Smoking

The latest buzz for people who are trying to quit smoking is the electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette. Seemingly overnight, this industry sprung up as a supposedly viable solution to quitting smoking, and with good reason: the electronic cigarette isn’t actually a cigarette, it just soothes your cravings for nicotine. So, is it really a good idea?

The best electronic cigarette falls under the same category as nicotine patches and gums: Nicotine Replacement Therapy. In the same vein, it has the exact same problems as the other nicotine replacement methods: it’s merely a band-aid for your urge to quit.

As I was trying to quit smoking, I tried virtually every trick in the book. None of them worked, and for good reason: when I ran out, I went right back to smoking. I never sat around and said, ‘Wow, I could really go for one of those nicotine patches right now!’

Of course, the solution to this is to keep an ample supply of whatever replacement you’re using on hand. But what happens when you’re out at a bar or with friends? Everyone’s out smoking, you’re not going to be that person who turns on their e-cigarette and takes a few drags, being all high and mighty over the other smokers. It just doesn’t make sense.

There is really only one real way to quit smoking: willpower. Many people say that cold turkey is the hardest way to quit smoking, and with good reason: they go about it all the wrong way. If you know what you’re doing and stomp out your want for cigarettes before you start, you’ll be able to quit and never look back!1

Methods to Quit Smoking By Electronic Cigarettes

There are plenty of ecigarette reviews, I promise you. If you take a peek on a search engine you will be flooded with ‘best advice.’ Of course they are showing their wares to you and all of them trying to grab your attention with the message that their item is the one to consider.

Okay, you have to start somewhere so, start. What I advise is that you have a good look at the ‘spread’ instead of stopping at the first one. The trick is having a good look at a fair number of what’s on offer. Have a points system based on your priorities. Sort of like buying a house or a car. Don’t rush in. You can always come back.

Okay, let’s see here. We have the patches, gums, inhalers, lozenges, acupuncture, laser, capsules, shots (injections), hypnotherapy, electronic cigarettes, herbal mixtures and potions. I have probably missed one or two obscure ones but you get the picture.

Easy, all you have to do now is choose and have a good life. I would like to advise or recommend but that is not why am here. On top of which, I may have my own preferences that you would not necessarily help you.

I was there once and I know what it is like. You just want to make sure the one you choose is right for you. Well of course you do! It’s a maze out there and you just have to keep going until you see that opening. This is real life!

The thing is, if you do keep on looking, you increase the odds dramatically for cracking it. I can say this hand on heart because I have done it many times. It’s almost like magic when it happens, but when it does, well done you! It has simply happened because you made it happen. Happy hunting!
